The Calendar provides a summary of the events taking place in 2010. It will be regularly updated during the course of the year.

9 March RAES/IMECHE lecture 'From Boxkite to A380' by Neil Scott at Messier-Dowty Cheltenham Rd. East, Gloucester GL2 9QH. Lecture starts 19.30; audience advised to be seated by 19:15 at latest. History of Flight exhibition at Bristol Central Library using items from the Local History & Reference Library Collections and accompanying artefacts.
13 June A gathering of the greatest collection of Bristol cars, lorries, buses, aero-engines and aircraft memorabilia in a static display at the Rolls-Royce site at Filton. ENTRY IS FREE FOR VISITORS. Display open 10.30am-5.00pm. Some of the vehicles will also take part in the parade in honour of Sir George White. Depart Rolls-Royce 1.30pm. Estimated return 3.00pm. 26 June Armed Forces Day, South Gloucestershire. Exhibits in Kingswood Park 10.00-16.00. Parade starts from the Shopping Precinct 12:00. Fly past circa 13:00. Further details to follow.
10 July The BAC 100 service will take place at Bristol Cathedral from 11am to 12.15pm on Saturday, July 10 and will include performances from the RAF Central Band and the Bristol Male Voice Choir. Admission will be by ticket only. Bristol Evening Post has 500 available which will be distributed via a special offer that runs the week beginning Monday 7 June. Readers need to collect special tokens printed during the week and submit an order form to the Post.
10 July Symposium on Eilmer of Malmesbury organised by the Athelstan Museum as part of the Eilmer Millenia celebrations. Speakers will be: David Keen from the RAF museum, Tim Porter, a local historian and Paul Chapman, an aeronautical engineer who will discuss the feasibility of Eilmer's flight. 12 July Activities in Llangattock-Vibon-Avel and Monmouth marking the centenary of the death of Charles Rolls this day in 1910, including service of celebration and fly past. Further details at Rolls 100 website.
17-18 July Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire. Tributes marking the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain will form the centrepiece attraction. 17 July Bristol Boxkite Centenary Celebration. One hundred box kites made and decorated by primary school pupils from Bristol and South Gloucestershire will be flown by the children on Clifton Downs in a mass ascent to celebrate the first public viewing in 1910 of a Bristol Boxkite aircraft flying over the city whose name throughout the world has become synonymous with all that is best in British aviation. 11.00am to 12.30pm. Event organised by Bristol Aero Collection with the support of Bristol International Kite Festival.
17 July Vintage Vehicle Extravaganza featuring Bristol Cars – it's their Golden Jubilee – and Bristol Busses giving free rides from Frenchay Village Museum to Frenchay Flower Show. 14:00-17:00. Further details will be available at the Frenchay Village Museum website.
24-25 July Farnborough International Air Show public opening. Admission charge. Further details at Farnborough website.
25 July Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts Club European Rally at the Monmouth Festival on the Monmouth Show Ground. Approximately 200 cars expected to join carnival procession from the show ground to the former Rolls' family home, the Hendre. Further details at Rolls 100 website.
27-28 July Royal Aeronautical Society Aerodynamics Conference at University of Bristol. See Call for Papers for further details.
30 July Celebrate the centenary of the first Boxkite flight at Larkhill with a guided tour. Walk begins from the old British & Colonial hangars at 11.00, now part of Larkhill Garrison, which will be opened especially for this occasion. Estimated length of walk: two hours. Wear sturdy shoes as terrain may be rough underfoot in places. Also likely to be cold in exposed spots, even in July! It is hoped that there will be an aerial display from a scale-model Boxkite, if weather permits. Cost: £3 National Trust members, £5 non-members. Pay on the day. 12-15 August Bristol International Balloon Fiesta at Ashton Court. Visit the Fiesta website for full programme details including times of nightglows and mass ascents. Free entry.
15 August Bristol Vintage Bus Group rally and running day at Brislington Park and Ride. Free vintage bus services to numerous locations around the city, out into the surrounding countryside and to Bath. Also free shuttle bus service to the Avon Valley Railway and free connecting services to and from Bristol Temple Meads, Keynsham, and Bath Spa stations.

18 September Hangar Dance at The Helicopter Museum. Doors open 7.30pm. Guests will be able to dance the evening away in an authentic aviation hangar surrounded by real historic aircraft to the live music of Swing Fever, recreating the sounds of the 1940's and 1950's. 25 September The 54th Coupe Aeronautique Gordon Bennett 2010 International Gas Balloon Race starts at dusk from a site near Bristol. Visit the Race website for further details.
October - December BAC 100 Concorde Exhibition highlighting the importance of the Concorde project to British Aircraft Corporation Filton/Rolls Royce Patchway and the Bristol community. Held at Thornbury & District Museum. Further details at the Concorde Collection website and on this poster.
21 November The Royal Air Force in Concert Tour 2010 comes to Colston Hall, Bristol. A memorable evening of popular classics from the stage and screen, rousing military music plus big band numbers performed by the legendary swing band The Squadronaires. Further details at the Air Tattoo website.
